THE POND

This painting was painted in the 1950s.  In this painting there are houses with outhouses (which are toilets in their back gardens.) There are factories and churches. There is also a large boating lake and some boats are on the bank.  There is a train in the background which is the only transport I can see.  There are large groups of children playing out.  There are families walking together also dogs.  There is a woman pushing a pram.  She is with a group of people protesting. 

My opinion of this painting is that it has a lot of detail.  It shows children playing and it also shows couples walking around.  It looks like winter you can tell it’s cold because of the smoke coming out of the chimneys of the houses.  I like this panting because there is a lot of activity going on in the boating lake.  In this painting there are a lot of pastel colours.
