Life Change   Return to Wythenshawe Magazine

I am now going to say a little bit about myself before I start my story.

My name is called Caroline.  I am 17 years old and I don’t live with my parents.  I live with my boyfriend in a cottage flat and I have a dog called Peppi and my mum has a dog called Sheba and also I have 3 brothers and one niece and a nephew.

I am now going to write about how it feels to be pregnant.

When I first found out I was pregnant I felt upset and frightened.  I felt as if my life was over because I’m only 17 and will soon be responsible for a little baby.  All I wanted to do was forget about it and get on with my life until the baby is born but I realised that I couldn’t do that because that baby is a part of me.  But now I have got used to the idea of having a baby and now I am happier with the idea.

At first I was scared about having the baby but also about what my mum and dad would say.  I told them over the phone and I went to their house after a bit.  They were upset because they think that I am too young.  They wanted me to go to college and I had planned to do a hairdressing course in September.

Now I am three months pregnant and the baby is due on November 8th.  My parents have got used to the idea though they are still not pleased.  They say they will look after the baby if I want to go back to college.

I want to go back to college after I have had the baby.  I would like to enrol on a hairdressing course sooner or later.  I will ask my parents to help me look after the baby.  I would like a girl and if it is I will call her Courtney.

I have lot of mixed emotions.  I feel upset, happy, scared, excited all at the same time.  But I think I will be able to cope.  I have got Richard and my family beside me.
