Types of Behaviour

There are three different types of behaviour:

Aggressive, - shouting, hitting, bullying, demanding, putting people down, swearing, telling people what to do, throwing things, showing off, bad moods, butting in, bossy, ignoring, intimidating etc….

This is the way that Domestically Violent people behave most of the time.

Passive, not asking for/doing what you want, not wanting to offend, worrying about others feelings too much, worrying about being contradicted, saying yes when wanting to say no, lying, saying sorry all the time even when it’s not your fault, keeping anger inside etc…

This is the way most domestically violated people behave.

Assertive, being clear about what you want, express yourself, be firm/state what you want without being nasty, talk about things and listen, both opinions matter, honesty, saying what you mean, being brave etc…

This is the way that all people should behave but in a violent relationship it’s hard to be assertive.

After getting out of the relationship, you will be able to, in time, build your confidence up and eventually be assertive because there will be no-one putting you down all the time.
