THE FOOD IN SPAIN AND ENGLAND

The food is another very important difference between Spain and England.  In Spain we grow olives, oranges, lemons, pears, cucumbers, peppers, corn, peas and all the other salad vegetables.  They also press the olives so that it creates olive oil.

In Madrid there is a variety of food such as:

Perdiz con Chocolate        Braised Partridge with chocolate

Patatas Bravas                 Hot spicy potatoes with tomato sauce

Cocido Madrileno             Spanish stew

Minestrone de Ternera    Lamb Minestrone

Tortilla Espanola            Spanish Omelette

Pescado al pil pil              Fish with a Spice called Pil Pil

Pisto                               Pisto

Minestrone de Ternera      Lamb Minestrone

Cabrito al ajillo                Goat with Garlic

Pollo al Padre Pedro           Chicken of Father Peter

Marisco                            Sea food

Yemas                             Yams

Some of the above dishes sound similar in English but are cooked differently.  In Spain the Spanish use lots of garlic, olive oil, peppers, meat sausages etc., but the English don’t.

However English food is bland.  It is still very nice but different.  Here are some of the most typical English dishes:

Irish Stew, Egg, bacon, mushrooms, sausages and tomatoes, Sausages and mashed potatoes, Roast dinner, Corn beef hash, Fish and chips, Pancakes, Lamb casserole, Beef casserole, Christmas pudding, Steak and kidney, pie/puddings, Mince Pie, Éclairs, Meat and Potato pies, Fruit Pies .

English food is delicious, but I have noticed that more and more people are buying take away foods rather than cooking at home.  I have been brought up in a Spanish/English household in Spain.  My father is Spanish and my mother English.  I have noticed that the English citizens are very polite, patient, well mannered and calm.  The Spanish on the other hand are from the Mediterranean.  The Spanish people I have noticed are very passionate, get angry very easily and are always anxious.

If I was to put an Englishman and a Spaniard together in one room I would realize that generally speaking the Englishman is taller than the Spaniard, has light coloured skin, eyes and hair whereas the Spaniard is much shorter than an average Englishman and has dark olive coloured skin, hair and eyes.

My mum and dad in Spain have been happily married for 25 years perhaps opposite poles attract each other.
