SPAIN Versus ENGLAND by STEPHANIE ALARCON BOLAS

MY LIFE EXPERIENCES, VIEWS AND COMMENTS

I was born at Wythenshawe hospital on the 25/04/83.  Seven days after I was born my mother took both my brothers and me back to Spain. When I was 3 years old I first visited the U.K.  I came to Manchester and the beauty and magnificence of Manchester took my breath and my sight away.  Since then I came every summer to visit, until one day came that changed my life forever.

When I was four years old I met a man called Dean George James Tabner.  I had a crush on him and on that day onwards I decided to learn English so when I grew up I could tell him how much I loved him.  So with my spends I started buying myself Ladybird books, teenage horror novels called Point Horror and Point Romance and Autobiographies and Biographies and proper adult books and Audiobooks.  I also began to look up words in the dictionary that I didn’t understand and writing them down in a notebook.  At Spanish schools we learnt English, so it came in handy.

When I was in Spain I lived in a village called Torrejon De Ardoz.  Madrid is formed by many different little communities.  When I was in Spain I went to school there.  The school I went to was called Colegio Publico Jaime Vera.  I got bullied there not only by my teachers but also by my classmates.  When I was 16 I achieved my Graduated Scholarship.  Then my parents put me in another private school called Diego Lainez, where I also got bullied. The bulling was so bad that my parents had to take me out of that school because a boy stuck a coat hanger in my neck.  After that my parents put me in a college called I.E.S. Victoria Kent, where I also got bullied.

Two years ago my eldest brother died.   His name was Michael Hugo Alarcon Bolas and he was 22 years old when he died. He crashed his car into a skip round the corner from home where we live in Spain.

THE WEATHER IN SPAIN AND ENGLAND

The weather in Spain is cool and sunny in spring, extremely hot in summer especially in the month of August, extremely windy at autumn and very cold and snowy at winter. The capital of Spain is Madrid, where over three million people live.   It’s very busy, noisy and full of tourists every year.

Now I live in England I have noticed that there are differences between England and Spain.  The weather is one difference that I have noticed.  The weather in Spain is cool and sunny in spring.  It’s extremely hot in summer especially in Andalucia in the South of Spain.  In the autumn it’s very windy.  The winter is very cold and snowy.  Where I lived we were near the mountains and they were covered in white snow and from a distance they looked very beautiful.

In England since I came I have noticed that all the trees become green when the leaves come out and spring flowers suddenly appear.  In the summer in the north of England where I now live it’s only warm and sunny for two weeks.  This autumn the colour of the leaves was beautiful but it has been cold and windy.  England is always wet.

The capital of Spain is Madrid, where over three million people live.  It’s a very busy and noisy city full of tourists every year.  This city has many theatres, shops, museums, churches, coffee shops and restaurants.
