Technology
Computers play a big part in modern life. Nearly every office has
one. We use them to book holidays and theatre tickets. Cash machines,
supermarket checkouts, road licences and television licences are
all run by computers. You cant get away from them!
Computer programs or software are used for all common tasks. The
most well-known software programs are word processors, databases,
spreadsheets, accounting, graphics and desk-top publishing.
Word-processing is the most familiar of all. A word-processor makes
the computer work like a very clever typewriter. It makes it easy
to produce a perfect document.
