Ebrary e-books collection - create your own bookshelf

to 18 May 2010, 16:55We now have a huge collection of e-books in the Ebrary collection, accessible in the Online Resources section of the Virtual LRC. When you logon to this via Athens you can create your own 'bookshelf' of most useful items for you subject. You can email this to your tutor or other students, so they too can use them.
Please ask your LRC co-ordinator for help.

Use Issues Online for easy to read articles on social issues

to 28 May 2010, 11:55Find Issues Online - the UK's first comprehensive reference source addressing contemporary social issues. Sixty main topics with articles, news, key facts, statistics and much more. Some of the many subjects covered are: Abortion, Bullying, Cloning, Euthanasia, Homelessness, Refugees and Vegetarianism.

Easy to read, up to date and very accessible. An excellent resource for all social issues. If using outside college, you will need your Athens username and password. You can apply for this via the Athens link on the Learning Resources Centres website.

Learning Zones

You log-in to Moodle using your Network username and password. See How to Log in, Access/Enrol on a Course and Log out (PDF, opens in a new window) for additional information and How to change your password (PDF, opens in a new window). A guide to using student email is available (PDF, opens in a new window). Queries regarding access to Moodle should be addressed to your tutor. Queries regarding access to the college network should be addressed to the Learning Centre staff. See news and information from e-services for updates about current and on-going issues. Some of the Moodle courses use pop-up windows. Read instructions for disabling pop-up blockers in your browser. Staff can request a new Moodle Course.
