Mention the subject
It doesn't matter that the courses you have applied for are clearly marked on the front of the UCAS form - not mentioning why you want to study these courses in the personal statement makes Admissions Tutors grit their teeth. These people are passionate about their subject and they want to hear that you are too. To get round this issue try your best to include the following:
- Your reasons for choosing the course
- Why you enjoy the subject
- What aspects of the course you enjoy
- Why you want to study the subject in more depth
- Which skills needed for the course do you already have
If it comes down to two students with identical grades, the one with the most obvious love of the subject is almost certain to get the place.
If you need help starting this part of your statement here are some Introductory sentences.
