Questions and answers
The final step in giving a successful presentation is to give your audience the opportunity to ask questions.
- Give the audience an opportunity to discuss the points you have raised by asking if anyone has any questions.
- It is often necessary for you to repeat questions so that your audience can hear them clearly and so that you can confirm what was asked. This also gives you time to think about your answer!
- Have a few spare, blank OHP sheets and OHP pens handy so that you can sketch or write your answers.
- If no one has a question use the deadly silence to amplify one or two of the main points from your talk or cover omitted items.
- You can also take the opportunity to ask your audience about things you don't know and develop this into a more general discussion.
