Learning Outcomes
The primary objective for PDP is to improve the capacity of individuals to understand what and how they are learning, and to review, plan and take responsibility for their own learning and career development.
On completion of PDP students will have:
- Assessed their prior experience and achievements
- Drawn links between their previous experiences and their intended HE study and consider what transferrable skills they may have
- Reflected on their achievements and future requirements
- Developed greater self awareness, critical reflection and evaluative writing skills
- Reflected on their progress and where improvements need to be made
- Reflected on their academic, personal and professional development
- Recorded the full range of their experience and skills, gained from study, work, life experience and student activities
- Developed key academic and professional skills such as planning, monitoring, evaluating and reflecting
- Developed student autonomy in learning
- Improved their transferrable skills
- Become pro-active and informed in relation to career development planning

Task 1 - Portfolio
This task is ongoing and will commence during week one of teaching
Your will be given specific tasks throughout your programme, which relate to detailed self assessment and analysis of your academic, employability and transferrable skills. This ongoing self assessment and evaluation will culminate in a Personal Development Portfolio.
This ongoing assessment and evaluation throughout the duration of your programme will form the basis of the following summative report whcih you will complete prior to the end of your programme.
Task 2 - Summative Report
This report should be 2500 words and requires you to present a detailed analysis and evaluation of the skills you will require to be successful academically, personally and professionally.
The report should be a summative analysis and evaluation of the key findings within your Professional Development Portfolio.

Discussions relating to the skills within the PDP portfolio and primarily basic and descriptive. The use of examples relating to the use of these skills academically and in the workplace islimited and there is a basic analysis of the student's own development in relation to each skill. Discussions demonstrate an acceptable knowledge and application of the generic skills, but overall demonstrate limited levels of application academically and in the workplace. In general the submission displays an understanding of the main concepts but lacks depth and is general in approach.

Discussions relating to the skills within the PDP portfolio demonstarted an acceptable understanding and application. Whilst discussions demonstrate this, they are descriptive and involve limited levels of application, analysis and evaluation. The range of skills examples used requires further detail. The evaluation of links between these skills, the student's own person al development, their use academically and in the workplace is limited. In general the main concepts are covered but the discussion is not developed in a structured way.
Good
Discussions relating to the skills within the PDPO portfolio demonstrated a good understanding. A good range of skills are used supported by good analysis and evaluation of each skill in relation to the students own personal development, their use academically and in the workplace is limited. Discussions relating to their effective and ineffective application are discussed. In general the main concepts are covered and the discussions are developed in a structured way.
Outstanding
Discussions relating to the skills within the PDP portfolio demonstarted a very good understanding. AS range of skills are described beyond those specified in the portfolio and are supported by detailed analysis and evaluation of each skill in relation to the studnet's own personal development, their use academically and in the workplace. Detailed analysis and evaluation of each skill is evident and there are detailed discussions surrounding the effective deployment of these skills. In general the submission is structured, develkped in a logical manner with relevant case studies or workplace examples cited.
